“Be Safe and Well Peace, Love, and Courage.”
Today Mac, Rev Dave and I will go to the airport and fly to England overnight, then, we will get on another plane to fly to Cairo. Mac is so excited that he wore himself out, so he is having a well deserved nap, right now.
I've been thinking about other people who have gone to Egypt as travelers. We read in the Bible about Joseph, who lived in Egypt when they were building the pyramids. On Wednesday we will get to see some of the pyramids! I'm really excited about that.
Mary and Joseph, the Bible says, fled with their baby, Jesus, when the king was so angry and hurting babies. They went to Egypt for protection.
When you travel to some places you go just for a holiday. Rest, relaxation, and lots of playing happens. Sometimes when you travel, you go to see other people, like Grandmas and Grandpas, or good friends who have moved far away. There are lots of reasons why people travel.
This journey we are on is a bit of a holiday, but for Dave and I, mostly this is a pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is a journey that takes you to places full of meaning, where you hope to learn, and expect to grow, in your mind, heart and soul. Just being where Moses led the people on the Exodus and where Jesus grew up and had his ministry will be, we expect, life changing.
As for Mac, well, he's bound to learn a lot, both from all the wonderful things he will see and, if he uses his good sense of smell and his doggy brain, who knows what he will discover!
